VisitScotland's 'Taste Our Best'
From the surf to the turf and whisky to craft beer, Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire have long been serving up some of Scotland’s most premium local produce creating a name for itself as an iconic food destination.
With a passion for flavours and culinary flair, we have no problem boasting that we have over 80 eateries that have received VisitScotland’s ‘Taste our best’ accreditation right on our doorstep. Well known restaurants, cosy B&B’s and even double decker buses have been worthy of the accreditation giving you unrivalled quality.
Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire is known for its produce and that some world-class favourites have been produced here. It’s known for the seafood - from the ports of Peterhead, Europe’s largest white fish seaport, and Fraserburgh, the biggest for shellfish. Then there’s the well-stocked rivers with some of the best in the world for salmon and trout.
The clean clear springs and moorland peat that help to produce the perfect dram. For the visitor there’s every chance to taste the place. A traditional fisherman’s ‘rowie’ or ‘buttery’ (the local breakfast roll) flat, flaky and rich. A succulent steak. The freshest sea food, from fine dining at the harbour mouth to fish and chips on a beach. Homemade ice cream using local dairy.
There’s plenty to get stuck into and lots of opportunities to ‘taste our best’.
