Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire have a café and coffee culture that rewards exploration, from buzzing city centre independents and tucked-away neighbourhood spots to countryside cafés worth a dedicated trip and coastal stops with views across the North Sea.
In the city
Moossh on Great Western Road is a bright and welcoming café and wine bar in the west end, popular for brunch, coffee, and a relaxed catch-up. Foodstory on Thistle Street is a beloved staple in the city, a rambling and atmospheric space with an almost entirely vegetarian and vegan-friendly menu and cinnamon rolls with a cult following. Mount and Tost, both on Upperkirkgate, are beautifully designed spaces with excellent coffee and outstanding bakes in the heart of the city.
Greyhope Bay at Torry Battery is one of the most distinctive café settings in the city, a community-owned venue above the harbour entrance where dolphins are a regular feature of the view. Books and Beans in the Belmont Quarter combines a fair-trade café with a second-hand bookshop in one of Aberdeen's most characterful corners.
Grounded, Contour Café, The Liberty Kitchen, Parx Café, Café 100, and Kilau all add further character and variety to a café scene well worth exploring at your own pace. Kava and Cairn Coffee both offer welcome stops on Aberdeen Beach for those exploring the esplanade and coastal strip. Blether in Cults is a much-loved neighbourhood favourite in the city's leafy western suburbs.
