What's on in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire this October

The leaves are changing and the autumnal colours are decorating the region beautifully. One thing that’s not changing in autumn is that we’ve got lots of great activities coming your way. It’s festival galore – from Doric to comedy to dance, you’re in for a treat. Speaking of treats… October is also choc-o-bloc full of terrifying – and tame – Halloween events to sink your teeth into. Check out what’s on in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire this month (if you dare):

 

It’s time to celebrate the Doric culture in this new festival showcasing Doric heritage, music and stories. From Braemar to Banff, Strichen to Stonehaven – Aberdeenshire will host performances, ceilidhs, films, song, storytelling and traditional music. Get ready to experience belly-aching laughter as Aberdeen Comedy Festival returns this October. Over 50 shows across 10 days featuring local and international comedians. Highlights include Reginald D Hunter kick starting the festival, Christina Bianco, Rob Kemp, Tom Allen, Tiff Stevenson and David O’Doherty ending the festival with a bang! Are you a fan of Take That? You’ll love the new musical that’s taking the theatre scene by storm. The Band is a beautiful story for anyone who grew up with a boyband, all set to the soundtrack of Britain’s biggest boyband of all time: Take That.

  • Evita [16 – 20 October 2018]

Following its smash hit runs in London, Evita is thrilling audiences across the UK in this latest tour. Returning to the lead role of Eva is Madalena Alberto who received critical acclaim for the role in 2014. Sharing the spotlight is Gian Marco Schiaretti fresh from the West End production. Don’t miss the epic story of Eva Peron, wife of former Argentine dictator Juan Peron in this five day run at His Majesty’s Theatre.

Aberdeen Comedy Festival may have ended by this point in the month but the laughs haven’t. Multi award-winning comedian Sara Pascoe embarked on tour following a sell-out run in London’s West End. Delighting audiences across the UK, the star of Live at The Apollo, Mock the Week, QI and Taskmaster is as sharp as ever. Don’t miss this gig at the Tivoli Theatre.
