What's on in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire this November

It’s almost the end of the year – how scary is that!? No, not Halloween scary but we catch your drift. Time is moving so fast but that’s what happens when you’re having fun and we’ve got lots of fun events coming up in November which means one thing (December is going to fly in!). Check out some of our highlights for what’s on this month:

Get ready for night-time extraganzas with Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire’s firework celebrations. Kicking off the weekend is Aden-een: The Shell Fireworks Parade in Mintlaw (which is celebrating it’s 10th anniversary in 2018). On Bonfire Night itself you can enjoy a firework display on Aberdeen beachfront set to a soundtrack of your favourite films.

Don’t let the dark nights make your motivation dwindle. Take part in The Aberdeen MoRun in either the 1.5km, 5k or 10k event. All raised funds will go to The ‘Movember Foundation’ which tackles men’s health. Become a healthier you while making a difference to mens health too.

He’s funny, he’s charming and he’s back. Jason Manford comes to His Majesty’s Theatre for one night of non-stop laughter.

So… what can we tell you about the Secret Staging 2…? The venue: a secret, the production: a secret, the cast and crew: a secret. What we can tell you is that this event is like no other. It’s a new, fun and immersive theatre experience in Aberdeen.

  • Winter Events [Various events from 9 November – 31 December 2018]

Get ready for the start of the festive events this month. Twinkly lights, lots of laughter and maybe even snow too! November highlights include Aberdeen Christmas Village (Opens 22 November), Aberdeen’s Christmas Tree Switch-On (22 November) and Christmas Lights Switch on Parade (25 November). There’s plenty to look forward to in Aberdeenshire too with Christmas Fairs at Crathes Castle, Castle Fraser, Fyvie Castle and even Ballater Winter Festival. It’s hard not to be cheesy when we say that this event is affa (Doric for awful) gouda news for cheese and wine lovers. You can pick and choose from a huge selection of local, national and international cheeses and wines at Doubletree by Hilton.

Scotland’s global change cinema project – Take One Action – returns to Aberdeen to premiere the most acclaimed international documentaries focusing on social and environmental justice. The three day festival will take place at the Belmont Filmhouse.

Get ready to get those feet tapping along with Aberdeen and Strathspey Reel Society as they celebrate their 90th anniversary with an evening of Scottish music. Special guests include Adam Sutherland, Jenn Butterworth, Geordie Murison and Robert Lovie.

Cullen Skink is a delicious local delicacy from, no surprise, Cullen. So where better to host the Cullen Skink World Championships than in the town that started it all. Celebrate the heritage of the hearty dish followed by a look the Christmas Arts and Crafts and Food Fair also on at Cullen Bay Hotel.
