It’s frightening how fast 2021 is flying by, as it’s the spooky time of year already with Halloween just a few days away! There is an array of spooktacular events taking place in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire including a list of family-fun activities where the kids can really get into the spirit of All Hallows’ Eve.
Pick your own pumpkin with Westerton Farmers
The most iconic symbol of Halloween is of course a pumpkin! At Westerton Farmers in Laurencekirk, you and the family can come pick your own perfect pumpkin ready to be carved and displayed on the 31st.
Westerton Farmers are also hosting a Harvest Market over Halloween weekend – expect hot food and drink, local produce, farmyard friends, gifts and more from a variety of stallholders!

Escape the Video Game Killer at Reset Aberdeen
Love escape rooms? At Reset Aberdeen, you can try your luck at escaping a video game killer this Halloween! The scene is set; you and your friends wake up in a locked room that you must escape within an hour before the killer arrives.
Why the ‘video game’ killer? Legend says he is called this as he tracks down those who have killed him in a game whilst he is streaming – spooky stuff!

Enjoy an Aberdeen Halloween Ghost Walk – if you dare
Get to know the city’s ghosts and unexplained phenomena in a guided tour that starts at Aberdeen Maritime Museum and finishes at the War Memorial on Schoolhill. You’ll learn all about the dark side of Aberdeen’s history, featuring a time-travelling ghoul and a ghost known as ‘The White Lady’, who lurks the grounds of the Kirk of St Nicholas.
The tour contains humour targeted at adults, but children aged 12 and over are welcome.
Dobbies Halloween Spooktacular – a frightfully fun family event
One for the kids! Expect terrifying treats, ghoulish games and more at Dobbies Halloween event. Prizes are to be won in the fancy-dress competition, and a Spooktacular meal is included in your ticket.
Dobbies can be found in the east of Aberdeen.
Creepy Halloween Masquerade – not for the faint hearted!
You’ll need nerves of steel to complete this challenge where you’ll race against the clock in this hands-on, spooky Halloween activity.
The plot is as follows; The Venetian Masquerade Club has organised a lavish cabaret for Halloween, but the star performer is missing a crucial part of their costume which your group must find within the creepy prop room! You’ll need to solve puzzles to complete this task but beware, there may be something else lurking in the prop room…
