Brought up in Keith, in nearby Moray, Gemma moved to Aberdeen in 2011 to study International Tourism Management at RGU. She graduated with an Honours degree in 2013 and has more recently gone on to win the accolade of ‘Regional Rising Star’ at the 2016 Aberdeen City and Shire Tourism Awards.
A career in tourism had always been on the cards for Gemma (she remembers deciding on this at age 13) and during her time of study, she worked for VisitScotland as a ‘peak seasonal’ at many information centres including Huntly and Aberdeen.
After five years with the national tourism organisation, Gemma felt it was time to pursue a career in local tourism and when this position came up with VisitAberdeenshire she jumped at the chance. Gemma works within our Business Events Team, promoting the region to conference and events organisers from all over the world and helping plan all sizes of conferences and events.
A big fan of Aberdeen’s mile long golden beach, Gemma enjoys relaxing walks down the promenade in the evenings and at weekend’s you can find her castle bagging – her favourite place is of course the pretty in pink, Craigievar Castle.
