The Gordon Highlanders Museum is a multi-award-winning, 5-star VisitScotland museum and visitor attraction located in Aberdeen’s West End, voted Best Visitor Attraction in Aberdeen and the North East at the 2024 Aberdeen City and Shire Thistle Awards.With a rich royal connection, King Charles (formerly The Duke of Rothesay), the last Colonel-in-Chief of The Gordon Highlanders Regiment, serves as the Museum Patron and takes a keen interest in the Regiment and its history.The Museum showcases 200 years of regimental history across two floors, beginning with a historic film narrated by actor Dougray Scott. Visitors can follow the “golden thread” through the Grant Room, Armoury and Medals Room, Silver Room, D-Day Exhibition, and Regimental Dining Room. The grounds also feature a full-size WWI replica trench, offering a hands-on experience of life for soldiers during the Great War.Tours are available with knowledgeable Museum Guides (subject to availability), or via an audio tour in nine languages, including a family-friendly children’s version with a mini-figure hunt to make learning fun. The Museum is suitable for visitors aged 5 to 105.The Museum also offers excellent facilities, including the Cognito at the Museum Café with indoor and outdoor seating, a gift shop, conference and event spaces, and a south-facing Victorian walled garden for relaxing. The building is Grade II listed and was once the home of Sir George Reid, renowned North East artist and former President of the Royal Scottish Academy of Art.An independent, self-financed museum supported by dedicated volunteers, The Gordon Highlanders Museum also provides first-class function rooms for corporate events, weddings, fine dining, and conferences. Catering options range from business breakfasts, drinks receptions, and whisky tastings to hot and cold buffets, two-course lunches or suppers, and funeral teas.With its combination of history, hospitality, and flexible event spaces, The Gordon Highlanders Museum offers a memorable setting for learning, entertaining, and celebrating in Aberdeen.
