sound Festival

sound is an innovative festival of new music. From contemporary classical to electro-acoustic, improvised, experimental and jazz music, the festival brings together a wide range of musical styles in a variety of concerts, workshops, installations and talks across North East Scotland. sound encourages audiences to discover new sounds and expect the unexpected.

The 2015 festival showcased cross art-form collaborations in Scotland. This included new commissions for new music and dance, theatre, and visual art.

sound also featured a conference run in partnership with the University of Aberdeen, ‘New music, Beauty and the Sublime’.

Artists and composers featured at the 2015 festival included; The Griffyn Ensemble (Australia), Red Note Ensemble, Ensemble Alternance (France), Ian Pace, Ian Wilson (Ireland), Brian Irvine, Orphaned Limbs Collective and many more.

The festival will run from 20 October to 6 November 2016 (Please not that this is to be confirmed).
